2.30pm The Queen in the 1902 State Landau, together with other members of the Royal Family, returns to Buckingham Palace in the carriage procession, accompanied by the Household Cavalry mounted regiment (the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals) providing the Sovereign’s Escort.
3.30pm The Balcony appearance: The Queen accompanied by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. When Her Majesty appeared on the balcony, the Guard of Honour performed a ‘feu du joie’. The ‘fire of joy’ is a ceremonial celebration whereby a salute is fired by rifles in rapid succession along a line of troops and back again, interspersed with bars of the National Anthem.
3.40pm The RAF fly-past: following the the historic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Red Arrows roared down the Mall and over the top of Buckingham Palace trailing a red, white and blue plume of smoke.
